That the twin brothers practically disagree on everything now...songs, videos, ideas etc. That things even got out of hand last Wednesday April 16th, the brothers physically fought each other during rehearsals. Okon Uya, Electoral Boss During Babangida Era, Passed Away

An ex- Chairman of the National Electoral Commission of Nigeria (NECON), during the Babangida era, Professor Okon Uya, is dead.

A staff of the University of Uyo and a sibling of the deceased, Mr Edet Uya, confirmed that Prof Okon Uya died at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) in the afternoon of April 17, 2014, Thursday.

“I feel very bad. He has been my mentor, but I thank God for everything. He gave his life to God before he passed on.
“Now, we have to give him a befitting burial as he was an international figure," the brother of the former electoral boss said.

Chibok: Parents Join Soldiers In Search Of Abducted Daughters

Anxious parents of some of the girls abducted from the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, have headed for the forest in a desperate search for their daughters.

More than 100 schoolgirls were taken away from their hostels by suspected Boko Haram insurgents on Monday night.

Contrary to the claim by the Defence Headquarters on Wednesday night that more than 80 of the girls had been rescued, the Borno State Government said only 30 could be accounted for – as at last night.
The military agreed last night that its information was wrong, saying it was misled.

Man Beheads Two Year Old Boy After Raping his Mother in Ogun State (Photo)

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a middle aged man, for raping a woman and beheading her two year old boy in Ofada town in Obafemi/Owode local government area of the State.

The suspect, identified as ‎Mamodu Bashir Ibrahim, reportedly trailed the woman into the bush where she had gone to ease herself, pounced on her despite the baby tied to her back and dragged both into an uncompleted building. Abuja Bomb Blast: Government Releases Names, Details of Injured Victims

The Nigerian government released a list of 126 victims admitted in various hospitals after the bomb explosion in Nyanya, Abuja, on Monday morning that killed 71 people. 

The list was made available by the Senior Information Officer, National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Sani Batti. Suspected Port Harcourt Bomb Was ‘Engine Mechanical Part,’ – Police

The suspected bomb that sent traders and commuters in Port Harcourt running for dear lives on Tuesday was an “engine mechanical part,” the Rivers State Commissioner of Police has said.

Tunde Ogunshakin, in a statement on Thursday, said that after the requisite technical examination and analysis was conducted, it was discovered that the object had no connection with an explosive device.
The presence of the leather bag, dropped by an unidentified man along the ever busy Ikwerre Road, on Tuesday afternoon, caused a stampede in the area. Within a quarter of an hour, Ikwerre Road, Railway Road, and adjoining areas were deserted as residents scurried out of their homes for safety.

LASU Issues Strike Ultimatum

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo Chapter, on Thursday threatened to go on strike at the expiration of another 14-day ultimatum it declared on April 15.

The union made the declaration at its South-West zonal congress, held at the institution.
Dr Adesola Nasir, ASUU South-West Zonal Coordinator, said the ultimatum was effective from April 15.

“The 14-day ultimatum trade dispute had been issued to accord the management an opportunity to address the demands of the union.

“ASUU would be holding its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting at the expiration of the ultimatum and ASUU-LASU will embark on a full scale strike, if its demands are not met,” he said.

Nigerian Who killed His Mum In The UK Found Guilty Of Manslaughter

 Emmanuel Kalejaiye, the 21 year old Nigerian young man, who learned to walk in heels as part of his plans to kill his own mother, Tolu Kalejaiye, in September 2013, (read here) has been found guilty of manslaughter by a court in England.

According to the jury, Kalejaiye could not be found guilty of murder because to his mental state.

Jamb Releases 2014 UTME Results, Only 24 Candidates Scored Above 250

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board on Thursday said 24 candidates scored 250 points and above in the universities matriculation examination held nationwide on April 12.

Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, made this known at a news conference on the release of the results in Bwari, Abuja.

NMA Demands Forensic Identification of Dead Victims

The Nigerian Medical Association has expressed shock over the recent bomb blast in Nyanya area of the the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, with a call on the Federal Government to carry out a forensic investigation into the incident.

A Nigerian man, Ozioma Kenneth Odeomenan has been arrested in New Delhi India with 330g of heroin worth $120,000 concealed in ladies shoes he was to export to America.

According to India police report, Ozioma was arrested after an anonymous tip-off they got on the 14th of April that a Nigerian man carrying hard drugs was coming to the Janakpuri metro station. Fulani herdsmen lay Siege to Taraba town, Residents Flee

Wukari town in Taraba State has reportedly come under another serious attack by gunmen, said to be militant herdsmen, who appear to have shifted their attacks to the state.

The troubled town, which is outside Jalingo, the state capital, is said to be under heavy bombardment by the gunmen, who are suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.

SHOCKING: Man Goes on Rampage, Beheads Cousins, Injures Two Others in Akwa Ibom State (Photo)

A 35-year old man, Mr. Uwem Job, on Wednesday, beheaded two of his cousins, Mr. Akaninyene Job, 45; and Ezekiel Job, 36 in Ikot Nkim, Ibesikpo/Asutan Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. While his two other cousins – Itoro Job and Ekemini Job – narrowly escaped death as Uwem’s machete missed their throats, but cut through their hands.

Osaze to Recoup Money From Fraudster

Nigeria forward Osaze Odemwingie will have his stolen money, totalling around £22,000, refunded after the fraudster Claire Duke pledged in the Stafford Crown Court to pay back over £80,000 to her victims.

According to Daily Mail, the 38-year-old mother of two, whose business offered concierge services and organised holidays and trips abroad, pleaded guilty to seven counts of fraud on Wednesday, including one relating to the Stoke City striker.

Funsho Williams Was Strangled to Death – Pathologist

Lagos State Chief Forensic Pathologist, Prof. John Obafunwa, on Wednesday told a Lagos High Court in Igbosere that the slain former governorship candidate in the state, Mr. Funsho Williams, was strangled to death.

Six men – Bulama Kolo, Musa Maina, David Cassidy, Tunani Sonani, Mustapha Kayode and Okponwasa Imariabie – are standing trial before the court for the murder of Williams.

Williams, who was to contest the 2007  governorship election in Lagos, was murdered on July 27, 2006, at his residence, 34A, Corporation Drive, Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi.

Residents Allegedly Catch Mentally-Challenged Woman with N100,000, BlackBerry

A woman said to be mentally-challenged escaped being lynched by an angry mob on Wednesday after she was allegedly caught with N100,000, two BlackBerry phones and an android phone.

Our correspondent, who visited the scene of the incident around Onabanjo Street, Oworonshoki, Lagos State, learnt that the incident occurred around 10am.

Residents told PUNCH Metro that two ATM cards were also found on the woman.

A resident, James Ogunkoya, told our correspondent that when some youths saw the woman with some money, they trailed her into a compound.
