No Body Should Celebrate Gen. Buhari - Etcetera

Why are we dancing? Why do we keep rolling out the drums each time we have a new government, only for us to start crying few months down the line? Is it that we are too quick to forget or we just love to dance? Do you celebrate a child who’s about to write his exams or the one who has written and passed? What is this jubilation for? Because I really don’t understand. Is it that the election of Buhari in itself has suddenly alleviated our sufferings? I am really confused here, hearing how six bikers lost their lives in Zaria celebrating Buhari’s victory.

Wow: Missing US Man Rescued After 66 Days On Sea (Photo)

A US man missing at sea for more than two months was celebrating a miraculous rescue on Thursday after being picked up by a passing ship and airlifted to land, the US Coast Guard said.

Louis Jordan, 37, who was reported missing on January 29, told family members he survived by catching fish with his hands and drinking rain water, according to the Coast Guard.

He was spotted drifting on his stricken sailboat — a 35 foot vessel called Angel — approximately 200 miles (322 kilometers) off the coast of North Carolina by the German-registered Houston Express tanker and taken aboard.

Oh No: April Fools Gone Wrong-Doctor Arrested For Telling Patients They Had HIV

A doctor in Chicago is in soup after allegedly telling all his patients that they were all HIV positive as an April Fools joke.

According to Huzlers,Dr. Prince Johnson, a local Chicago Doctor was arrested a few hours after giving patients false HIV test results.

His expensive joke came to light when up to 16 patients “tested positive for HIV”.Upon realizing Dr. Johnson was being dishonest, patients called the authorities and Dr. Johnson was immediately arrested. Clarissa, a patient of Dr. Johnson said
“I can’t believe this was all a part of a sick April fools joke, I’m so relieved to find out i actually don’t have HIV”

BREAKING NEWS: Kano INEC Commissioner, Family Die In Mysterious Fire Incident...

The Kano State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Alhaji Abdullahi Minkaila has been killed in a mysterious fire outbreak.

The deceased was burnt along with his wife and two children, in an inferno when his residence was engulfed by fire Thursday night.

The late Minkaila and his family were rushed to the Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano where they gave up the ghost Friday morning.

Spokesman of the Independent Electoral Commission, Mallam Garba confirmed the incident.
The cause of the fire is yet unknown.

World Ugliest Woman Dies At 67 ( See Photo)

The Guinness world record holder as the worlds ugliest woman, Anne Woods,  has died aged 67.

She passed away at the weekend after a lifetime of dominating competition from all over the globe to be crowned the ‘World’s Ugliest Woman’ a whopping 28 times.

Anne was renowned for performing to her signature track You’re Gorgeous.

Her first appearance was at Crab Fair in Egremont, Cumbria, in 1977.

Terrorists kill 147 In Kenyan University - Pres. Jonathan Condemns Attack

No fewer than 147 people have been killed after an Islamic group stormed a university in eastern Kenya, the country’s interior minister said.

This is just as the President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan condemned the attack and commiserated with the families of the victims.

Sky News reports that two police officers are among the dead following heavy gunfire and explosions in a campus building at Garissa University.

At least 79 others have been wounded.

China Ex-Security Chief Zhou Yongkang Charged (Photo)

On of the most powerful men in China, former security chief  Zhou Yongkang has been charged with bribery, abuse of power and the intentional disclosure of state secrets, state media report.

Before he retired in 2012, Mr Zhou was the head of China's vast internal security apparatus.
But an investigation into him was announced in July 2014 and he has since been expelled from the Communist Party.

He is the most senior official to be targeted in decades.

Start With B’Haram, Borno Elders Urge Gen. Buhari ...

The Borno Elders Forum has appealed to the President-elect, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to ensure that the issue of the Boko Haram insurgency is given top priority immediately he assumes office on May 29, 2015.

This was contained in a statement signed by the chairman of the forum, Ambassador Usman Galtimari, on Thursday.

The statement partly read, “Over the past few years, Nigerians have been terribly afflicted by insurgency and high level terrorism. For us in Borno State and indeed the North East, it is not an exaggeration to say that we have been taken back several years in terms of all indices of human development.

Explosion Near Bus Station In Gombe kills At least 5

An explosion near a bus station in the northeast Nigerian city of Gombe killed at least five and injured 15 others, witnesses told AFP on Thursday, in an attack that bore the hallmarks of Boko Haram.

“We had an explosion outside the motor park (bus station) this evening around 8:30 pm (1930 GMT) which killed five people and injured 15 others,” said Muhammad Garkuwa, a drivers’ union official.

“The explosion was from an explosive left by a woman in her handbag beside a bus waiting to convey passengers to Jos,” he said in an account supported by a nearby food seller.

26-Year-Old Woman Arrested For 'Facebook Thugging'?

A Facebook feud ends with a Chesterfield woman in police custody. She was charged with harassment by computer.
"I feel like it's ridiculous because we were all guilty," said 26-year-old Kristin Holmes. "And I admit...I was childish and argued as well. Everybody was arguing."
Kristin says she was mistaken for another woman. She decided to post a photo with her holding a gun.
"I'll post a few actual pics of me so you know the difference when you 'come find me,'" read the Facebook caption.

French President, Francois Phones Buhari, Invites Him to Paris...

French President Francois Hollande spoke with President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, on the telephone on Thursday and invited him to Paris for discussions on the expansion of trade between France and Nigeria.

A statement by the French Embassy in Abuja said the French leader congratulated Buhari on his success and noted the peaceful and fair electoral process which had enhanced Nigeria’s democracy.
“The French head of state assured the President-elect of France’s wish to continue the close relationship that existed with his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, and reiterated France’s support for Nigeria and its neighbours in their efforts to combat the terrorist sect, Boko Haram,” the statement added.

Another Nigerian Sentenced To Death In Indonesia For Drug Trafficking

Jakarta – Local media report on Thursday in Jakarta, said another Nigerian, Simon Ezeaputa, has been sentenced to death in Indonesia for drug trafficking.

It said the district court in Tangerang, near Jakarta, on Wednesday found Ezeaputa guilty of controlling a drug transaction from his prison cell, where he was serving a 20-year jail term for drug offences.

The report said the transaction involved 350 grams of crystal methamphetamine.

With the latest development more than 60 people are on death row in Indonesia for drug offences.

OMG: Court Rules Student Should Be Flogged For Stealing N4,000 Sandals In Abuja

A student, identified as Usman Yakubu, was yesterday ordered by a Kado Grade 1 Area Court sitting in Abuja to be given six strokes of cane for stealing a pair of scandals.

Yakubu was arraigned before Justice Abubakar Sadiq on the charge of theft and was convicted after pleading guilty to the charges.

Sadiq urged the convict to stay away from crime, adding that a stiffer punishment will be handed down to him if he is arraigned before the court again.

Aftermath: Gunmen killS 30 in Governor Suswam’s Village in Benue...

Few days after Barnabas Gemade of the All Progressives Congress, APC, defeated the incumbent governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam in the Benue Northeast senatorial election, some gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen invaded the governor’s village, killing no fewer than 30 persons.

It was gathered that the insurgents, armed with dangerous weapons, invaded Kurungu, Tse Vir, Abur and Ageraga communities of Gaamber Tyev in Logo local government area of the state, killing anybody on sight.


Several farmers reportedly fled to Ugba town, the headquarters of Logo and Zaki-Biam in Ukum Local Government Area.

The special assistant to the governor on media and publicity, Mr. Joseph Anawa, who is an indigene of the affected community, said the attack occurred at about 5 am. He stated that the militia attacked the communities and quickly retreated

The police public relations officer, ASP Ezeani Ameachi, confirmed the attack and said “several houses were burnt and corpses have also been recovered. The police and army have quickly taken charge of the affected areas to maintain peace.”

Man Shaves Woman's Pubic Hair While She Slept In Edo State (See Photo)

Edo State Police Command has arrested a ‎35-year old man, Ibrahim Adamu and has paraded him at the ‎state police command headquarters on Wednesday,

The Edo State Police Commissioner, Samuel Adegbuyi,said the suspect lured the victim “into his room, shave her arm pit hair and her pubic hair without her consent while she slept.”

Adamu confessed to shaving the woman’s pubic hair while sleeping, but said that the woman was his girlfriend.

We May Return To Militancy, Asari-Dokubo Told Punch

A former Niger-Delta militant, Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, says with the defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan, he and other militants may be forced to return to the creeks.

Asari-Dokubo, who hails from the same state as Jonathan, said the voting pattern showed that the South-West and the North ganged up against the South-South and South-East geo-political zones.

The ex-militant said in a statement by his spokesperson, Rex Anighoro, that it was unfair that the minorities were being emasculated by the majority ethnic groups.

President-elect Muhammadu Buhari has assured President Goodluck Jonathan that he has nothing to fear.

Villagers near Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, have flocked to see the 'divine' girl in the belief she is an incarnation of the elephant-headed god Ganesha after she was born with a facial deformity resembling an elephant's trunk. The baby girl is reportedly being worshipped like a god in India
The newborn's aunt, named as Rajani, told the news agency: "My sister-in-law gave birth to a girl and her face looks exactly like Lord Ganesha.

"Everybody is saying she is an incarnation of the god.

"This is why whoever hears about her is coming here to get a glimpse of the baby and are making whatever offerings possible."

He said there is insecu­rity in the north-east and in the Niger Delta regions just as he explains:

PDP Declines Signing Presidential Poll Result Sheet...

The  Peoples Democratic Party on Wednesday  refused to sign the final result sheet for the March 28 presidential election, which it lost to Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(retd.) of the All Progressives Congress.

This was despite that the PDP presidential candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan, had  conceded defeat earlier before the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission and Chief Returning Officer of the election, Prof. Attahiru Jega, returned Buhari as the President-elect at about 3.44am on Wednesday.

''I Regret My Action'' - Godsday Orubebe Apologizes to Nigerians

Former Niger Delta Affairs Minister Elder Godsday Orubebe last night apologised for his outburst during the release of elections results in Abuja. He regretted that he allowed his emotion to betray him and has pleaded with Niger Delta youths not to perpetrate violence because of the election of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.

Orubebe, who held up proceedings for about 30 minutes, told reporters in Abuja:
”Election is a passionate thing and I really regret what took place this morning. I was unnecessarily pushed by Jega to get to that level. I want to apologise particularly to young Nigerians that look up to take politics as a career to say that what happened was
not intended to cause them any embarrassment.

Formal First Lady Patience Jonathan Commences Packing Out of Aso Villa...

As the election result trickled in and it became evident that President Goodluck Jonathan had lost, his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan, yesterday commenced the process of moving out of the presidential villa.

Leadershipng reports that a Presidency source said she summoned her domestic staff and ordered them to pack her personal belongings in readiness for the change of guard.
“By 6pm, the truck had made two trips”, the source reported.
It is, however, unknown where the First Lady’s property were transported to. Mrs Jonathan was very visible at the presidential rallies and made vile comments about the president-elect and his party.
