Award-winning celebrity designer, Durojaiye Owolabi, is the owner of Mood’deo International. And in a chat with Punch Saturday Beats, he says most of the celebrities seen on television in Nigeria like wearing cheap clothes or clothes given to them for free. According to Owolabi, when he started his business, he expected that he would make it big being a celebrity designer but was shocked when he realized that some of the big names in the industry wanted free clothes and they always delayed in paying him for his services.

NOT AGAIN: Angry Mob Set Suspected Female Kidnapper Ablaze in Ilorin

A middle-aged woman was on Friday lynched and set ablaze by an irate mob at Emir’s road, near Opo-Malu junction, in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.

According to reports, the mother of the baby was alighting from a motorcycle and had asked the woman to assist her hold the baby. But surprisingly,  the suspected kidnapper bolted away with the baby. Shocked, the mother of the baby raised alarm which attracted passersby and neighbours and they chased the fleeing suspect. The mob eventually caught up with her, stripped her naked and beat her mercilessly before setting her ablaze.Continue....

 Five persons, including a pregnant woman were electrocuted on Thursday in Lagos after a PHCN high-tension cable fell, causing fire and explosion.

An eyewitness told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the incident happened around 2.00 a.m. at Oworonshoki, Lagos. The source said that fire broke out when the cable fell on a Toyota Camry car loaded with petroleum products. The victims rushed out of their homes when they heard the explosion and ran into the live cable unknowingly.

“As they rushed out, they all embraced the cable in front of their house and they were electrocuted. The corpses were taken to Yaba General Hospital by policemen from Oworonshoki and some residents of the area.“

 Two children have reportedly drowned in the capital city of Kwara state, Ilorin, during a storm that accompanied a heavy downpour in the night of April 9, 2014, Wednesday.

The rain that started around 11 pm wreaked havoc in most parts of the city. Offa garage was affected the most.

Two brothers, identified Gafar, 5, and Basit, 3, have drowned when a rented three-storey building, located in Omosebi Hospital area off Ajasse Ipo road in Ilorin, was submerged by flood-water. The kids lived there their grandmother.

The Federal Government has filed a new lawsuit against Mohammed Abacha, son of the late General Sani Abacha, accusing him of unlawfully receiving about N446.3 billion stolen from the Government in 1995-1998.

In the nine-court charge, Mr. Mohammed is accused of "dishonestly receiving stolen property" and "voluntarily assisting in concealing money".

It would be recalled that earlier, Mr. Mohammed was chared on 121 counts along with Atiku Bagudu; Mr. Bagudu has been excluded from the fresh charge.

Aluu community: Mob Overwhelmed Police Team – Accused

A former police sergeant facing murder who was involved in the killing of four University of Port Harcourt students told a High Court why the police team were unable to save the victims.

The accused, Lucky Orji, who was dismissed from the force after it was reported that he ordered the lynching of the students was charged along with 11 other persons in connection with the killing in Aluu Village in October 2012.

Mr. Orji told the court on Thursday that the police patrol team, of which he was a member, could not rescue the students because it was overwhelmed by the mob numbering about 3,000. Nigeria At Risk Of Ebola Virus - FG

The Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, has said that Nigeria is now at risk of contacting the deadly Ebola virus which has been spreading across neighboring West African countries in recent times. The virus which first broke out in Guinea in January this year, is said to have no vaccine at the moment and has killed a total of 87 people with 137 cases reported since the outbreak.

- Affects mostly Africans
- It kills very fast
-It is transmitted by direct contact with infected blood or body fluid or via reuse of infested hospital injections

Woman Gets Caught Stealing Baby Through Window in Ogun State (Photo)

For allegedly trying to steal a year old girl from her parents’ house early this morning, a 31-year old woman is currently being interrogated by the police at Ajuwon Station for kidnapping. The suspect, Blessing Aransiola, was caught by the girl’s father, Mr. Seye Adanri, 34, as she attempted to escape with the girl, Oreoluwa Adanri.

Female Delegate Slumps During National Conference

On Wednesday at the ongoing National conference taking place in Abuja,  a female delegate identified as Ezenwa Ifeanyinwa slumped, shortly after the resumption of the afternoon session.

Mrs. Ifeanyinwa, a representative of the Market Women Association, was said to be on her way back from lunch break and was heading towards the plenary chamber when she suddenly fainted.
Immediately, security agents, including operatives from the State Security Service, SSS, and the National Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC assisted her and took her into one of the ante rooms outside the Conference plenary chamber.

Senate passes N4.695tr 2014 budget

The Senate on Wednesday passed the 2014 budget totalling N4.695tr, an amount which is N52.2bn higher than the N4.642trl which was submitted by President Goodluck Jonathan to the National Assembly on December 19, 2013, through the Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance, Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

The upper chamber at its plenary presided over by the Senate President, David Mark, approved the budget following the clause by clause consideration of the document at the committee of supply which lasted about one and half hours.

Highlights of the 2014 budget as approved by the senate are, Statutory Transfers (N408,687,801,891), Debts Service (N712,000,000,000), Recurrent Expenditure (N2,454,887,566,702), Capital Expenditure (N1,119,614,631,407) while the Aggregate Expenditure is N4,695,190,000,000.

8 Killed as Gunmen Bomb Police Station, Court, Bank In Jigawa

(Nation) – Scores of gunmen riding motorcycles and cars invaded Gwaram, a Jigawa State community yesterday, shooting.

The hoodlums operated for at least two and half hours without let, killing seven policemen and a security guard. They broke into a bank.

Using guns and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), they also attacked a Sharia Court and the Gwaram Local Government Secretariat.

Police Save Jobless Graduate Who Tried To Kill Himself Yesterday in Uyo (Photo)

 An unemployed engineering graduate of Ekiti State University, Mr. Sunday Omotayo, was on Wednesday prevented from committing suicide by the police and prison officials in Akwa Ibom.
