 Nine dogs have been found abandoned in such a poor state they were unable to see or stand properly.

The nine animals were found in such a poor state - with long matted fur covering their faces - that at first RSPCA officers in Winchester didn't even realise they were dogs.

BREAKING: Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah dies aged 90....

Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz has passed away, aged 90. The monarch died late last night January 22nd (Nigerian time) in his home. His death was announced in a statement broadcast on Saudi state TV.

"His Highness Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and all members of the family and the nation mourn the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, who passed away at exactly 1am this morning (Friday - Saudi time)," the statement said.

Abdullah became king in 2005 after the death of his half-brother King Fahd. The late king's brother, Salman, 79, has been announced as the new ruler of the kingdom.

The incident happened at a Times Square hotel for the homeless in New York city late last night.

Police believe 29-year-old Herbert Gaines shot his partner six or seven times.

The victim, Brandi Quijano, 27, lived at the hotel which is run by charity Common Ground, who provide housing for the homeless and people with HIV.

Buhari’s certificate forged – Femi Fani-Kayode

The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation alleged on Thursday that the school certificate presented by the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was forged.

The Director of Media and Publicity of the organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, made the allegation at a press conference in Abuja.

He, however, added that the organisation had yet to contact the school that issued the certificate to either confirm or deny its authenticity.

The Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has said that the Peoples Democratic Party has run out of lies having failed to discredit the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), over his academic qualification to contest the February 14 presidential election.

The Government College, Katsina (formerly Provincial Secondary School) had on Wednesday released Buhari’s credential shortly after he had formerly requested the school to make the document available to dispel the controversy surrounding his qualification.

However, Oshiomhole said that Buhari’s capability was not in doubt, adding that that he would secure the votes of Nigerians, even if he tendered his electricity bill.

100,000 New Cases Of Cancer Are Recorded In Nigeria Yearly....

A professor of radiotherapy and Oncology with the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Akoka, Aderemi Ajekigbe who delivered the 21st Inaugural Lecture of the university titled, ‘Cancer:

The Unwanted Guest That May Visit’, has said Nigeria records 100,000 new cases of cancer annually.

 Aderemi stated some reasons why cancer is increasing at an alarming rate in Nigeria, saying it is due to the poor state of health facilities, poor funding of cancer care, late diagnosis and detection of the deadly disease in the country. He also stated that Nigeria has about two million recorded cases of cancer. 

14 Year Old Jailed for Allegedly Killing Stepmother's Fowl in Kano

A 14-year-old boy was sentenced to 5months imprisonment for allegedly murdering his step-mother’s fowl in their house in Kano state.

 According to a legal council, Audu Bulama Bukarti, the boy, whose identity was withheld had a dispute with his step-mum in Wudil local government area of Kano State some five months ago. “He was taken to the police station by the step-mum over her chicken and when efforts by the police to settle them yielded no result, the case was transferred to court,” said the attorney.

Photo: Newly Wed 18 Year Old Woman Gang Raped By 7 Guys

An 18-year-old newlywed woman was allegedly gang-raped by seven men on Saturday night in Bhithali village of Shinor taluka in Vadodara district, India.

The accused barged into the house where she and her family were sleeping and dragged her to an open field nearby. They took turns to rape her.

Times Of India reports that the woman had migrated to Bhithali few days ago with her husband and in-laws in search of work. The family was employed by a farm owner in the village to do labour work in the fields. "The woman was dragged to an isolated place in the fields by the accused. She was later found about 1.5 km far from her dwelling," said Shinor police sub-inspector J M Waghela.

British Soldier gets Charged with Raping 6-year-old Girl...

A British soldier has been charged with raping a six-year-old girl at her home in Austria. According to DailyMail, the man, believed to be a bombardier from 7th Parachute Regiment Royal Horse Artillery, is accused of assaulting the girl after climbing through the window of her home while drunk.

The young girl's father woke up after hearing a noise and allegedly found the half-naked soldier in his daughter's bedroom in the village of Neustift im Stubaital. The soldier, who is based at a barracks in Essex, was remanded in custody on a charge of rape. He was taking part of an alpine training course in the Tyrol region of the Austrian Alps when the alleged incident occurred in December.

Robbers cart away N6m Church offering in Ogun.....

Police in Ogun State have arrested a robbery suspect, identified as So­moye who allegedly led his gang to rob a  church (names withheld) in the Ibara GRA area of Abeokuta of N6 million cash.
The gang was also alleged to have dispossessed congre­gation of their cash and other valuables.
Somoye had led his robbery gang to rob the church of the cash and valuables during an anniversary service last Sunday.

But following a distress call, the police stormed the church while the robbers were still carrying out their operations and engaged the gang members in an exchange of fire.

Lindsay Lohan Hospitalized with Rare Incurable Virus....

Lindsay Lohan is in a London hospital with a rare, incurable virus she apparently picked up in Bora Bora .

According to TMZ, Lindsay contracted Chikungunya, a virus transmitted by mosquito bites that causes fever, joint pain and fatigue.

 Lindsay vacationed in Bora Bora over the holidays and then flew to L.A. to shoot an Esurance commercial ... we believe for the Super Bowl. Lindsay began complaining of the illness just before New Year's.

She then went back to London where she became so ill she couldn't walk. Lindsay is currently in King Edward VII's Hospital ... the same place the Queen gets treated.

They're keeping Lindsay because she has a high fever and the joint pain is unbearable. As for her prognosis ... we're told the joint pain could last for months.

Update Lindsay was just released from the hospital because her fever broke sufficiently, but her joint pain is still intense and doctors referred her to a specialist who treats the virus.

We're also told Lindsay's mom Dina is on her way to London to be with her.

Ghanaian government officials have confirmed that the official government website has been attacked by some hackers. The unknown hackers are said to have taken control of the electronic portal, www.ghana.gov.gh.

Deputy Communications Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu confirmed this to an Accra-based radio station on Wednesday, January 21, 2015.

Mr. Kwakye Ofosu said they were notified of the situation early Wednesday.

The results, obtained exclusively by PREMIUM TIMES Wednesday, confirm Mr. Buhari’s claim that he undertook the University of Cambridge West African School Certificate Examinations and
obtained five credits in English Language, Geography, Hausa Language, History, and Health Science.

Bird flu now in seven states in Nigeria - FG Says

The Federal government says the highly transmittable avian influenza viral disease also known as Bird flu has spread to five more states asides Lagos and Kaduna where the first cases were recorded in Nigeria. The states with the latest cases of the disease in poultry animals include Ogun, Delta, Rivers, Edo and Plateau states.

Speaking at a press conference today in Abuja, the Minister of Agriculture, Akinwunmi Adeshina said 15 commercial farms and 9 live bird Markets have been affected by the disease in the five states.
