Governor Okorocha’s Aide Arrested For Stockpiling Arms

The Imo State Police Command has arrested a Senior Special Assistant to Governor Rochas Okorocha, Barrister Okechukwu Okorocha, for illegally being in possession of arms.

In a meeting with journalists at the Police headquarters in Owerri on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Andrew Enwerem, said that Okorocha was arrested after operatives from the State Criminal Investigation Department, acting on a tip-off that some top government functionaries were stockpiling arms with the intention to disrupt the general elections in Imo State, conducted a cordon-and-search operation at his residence in the early hours of Friday and recovered three pump action automatic rifles with 24 live cartridges and a Kenwood walkie-talkie.

EFCC denies Freezing Father Mbaka's Accounts...

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has denied reports that they froze the accounts of Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka.

There were media reports yesterday that Fr Mbaka had claimed during his sermon on Wednesday March 25th that the EFCC had frozen his bank accounts and that he was invited to their Port Harcourt office for questioning. He supposedly said he went to the bank on Tuesday March 24th to cash some money to buy foodstuff for the poor who had just returned to Enugu from the North and the cheque he presented was rejected.

‘Germanwings captain tried to smash into cockpit with axe’ .....

The captain locked out of the cockpit of the Germanwings plane that crashed in the French Alps used an axe to try and force his way back in, German daily Bild said Friday, citing security sources.
Co-pilot Andreas Lubitz appeared to have deliberately flown the plane into the side of a remote mountain after locking the captain out of the cockpit, French officials have said, killing himself and all 149 others aboard Tuesday.

Oh No: Church warden killed herself after £140,000 theft was rumbled by priest

A church treasurer who stole over £140,000 from organisations she volunteered for after amassing huge, secret debts hanged herself when her deceit was discovered, an inquest heard.

Jill Gover, 54, was a respected and trusted member of her local community, serving as a church warden, book keeper for the village hall and a trustee for a wealthy colleague's trust fund.

28-yr-old Michelle Jenkins, A Jehovah's Witness has lost her life  after rejecting blood transfusion during the birth of her daughter. The pregnant woman lost a lot of blood while giving birth to Ella Marie her daughter, so much that she needed a quick transfusion but based on her  faith that forbids all Witnesses from receiving transfusions, she rejected the offer.

Reports say Michelle died soon afterwards leaving her daughter behind.

Co-pilot Deliberately Crashed Germanwings Plane – Report Says

The co-pilot of the Germanwings flight that crashed in the French Alps, named as Andreas Lubitz, appeared to want to “destroy the plane”, officials said.

Marseille prosecutor Brice Robin, citing information from the “black box” voice recorder, said the co-pilot was alone in the cockpit, the British Broadcasting Corporation reports.

He intentionally started a descent while the pilot was locked out.

RIVERS State Governor Rotimi Amaechi escaped unhurt in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area on Thursday when gunmen, suspected to be political thugs, fired shots at his convoy.

Violence And Chaos Breaks Out In Lagos ( See Photos)

Thugs armed with machetes, guns and other weapons besieged the Oshodi area of Lagos State as early as 6am today, March 26.

The attackers were said to be wearing hoods while shooting sporadically and harassing residents.

The violence is also said to have spread into the Costain and Maryland areas of the state though these reports have not been confirmed.

The cause of the violence has not yet been determined but rumours have it that the chaos is being orchestrated by members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC).

Election Polls: Jonathan, Buhari Meet Again

President Goodluck Jonathan is currently meeting behind closed doors with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

The meeting brokered by the National Peace Committee for the 2015 General Elections, led by Gen. Abdusalami Abdusalami (retd.), is meant to extract commitment from the leading candidates that the forthcoming elections will be violence-free.

The two candidates may sign another peace accord at the end of the meeting.

Kidnapped Emir Regains Freedom In Zamfara...

The Emir of Bukkuyum in Zamfara State, Alhaji Muhammad Usman, who was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on Friday, has regained his freedom. Usman was released by his captors on Wednesday.

This was disclosed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Sanusi Amiru, while briefing newsmen in Gusau. Amiru said police team assigned to search and rescue the kidnapped emir from the office of the state Police Commissioner successfully found and rescued the emir at Gadar Zaima.

“The whole area was cordoned off by police, who were on search and rescue mission, the development which compelled the kidnappers to release the emir,” Amiru added.

Ahead of the March 28 General elections, Rivers State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governor’s Forum, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has accused President Goodluck Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP of breaching the Abuja Peace accord.
