Corrupt Officials In Buhari’s Govt Will Be Jailed – Prince Tony Momoh

With barely 20 days to the inauguration of General Muhammadu Buhari, former Minister of Information and Culture, Prince Tony Momoh, has stated that the incoming president will not tolerate corruption.
Prince Momoh noted that any corrupt elected official who is found compromising his position will be jailed by the president-elect, Leadership reports.

Momoh, who was spoke during the maiden meeting of the One Voice Nigeria (OVN)-Discourse/Leadership Colloquium, also stated that the Buhari administration will follow fully, the rule of law and would not in any way tolerate any one compromising his position.

Gay Nigerian activist, Bisi Alimi shared a heartfelt note on Instagram reflecting on the day he discovered his HIV status.

Ambassadors Killed in Pakistan Helicopter Crash...

Pakistan's army says the ambassadors from the Philippines and Norway were killed in a helicopter crash in the country's north.

The army says the helicopter carrying 11 foreigners and six Pakistanis made a crash landing Friday, killing two pilots and four foreign passengers.

The army's spokesman, Maj. Gen. Asim Bajwa, tweeted that the MI-17 helicopter made the emergency landing in the northern area of Naltar.

It was unclear what caused the crash.

Habila Malgwi is said to have used his father’s Immigration connections to effect his escape to Dubai.

Problem: Manny Pacquiao undergoes shoulder surgery following Mayweather defeat

Manny Pacquiao has undergone surgery on a torn rotator cuff in in his injured right shoulder.

Following his defeat to Floyd Mayweather on Saturday night, the Filipino revealed he had been suffering with the issue in the buildup to the fight.

He requested a painkilling injection two hours before the bout but was denied because he had left it too late to disclose the injury.

Pacquiao, 36, went under the knife on Wednesday and is expected to be out of action for up to a year.

According to reports from multiple students who reached out to LIB, Mayowa Alaran, a 200l student of Human Kinetics (pictured above) was watching the Barca match in his hall yesterday when he suddenly slumped. He was rushed to the school's clinic, Jaja Clinic, where students claim they were told by nurses that they won't attend to the sick student unless they presented his clinic card. The nurses also allegedly asked for money. Mayowa later passed away in the clinic.

Govs should be blamed for unpaid salaries – Okonjo-Iweala Tells

The Federal Government on Wednesday absolved itself of blame in the inability of some state governments to pay their workers’ salaries.

It said the governors of such states should be blamed for the development in their states because they were told through the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee to make the issue of wage a priority.

OMG: NDLEA Arrests Pastor with 1.978kg of Heroin

Operatives of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, AIIA, Enugu, have arrested a Lagos pastor over drug trafficking. The suspect, Daniel Lanre Akintola, 43, was caught with 1.978kg of heroin concealed in the false bottom of his luggage.

This is coming just a few weeks after a Lagos-based pastor was arrested for smuggling narcotics to South Africa at the Lagos Airport. Vanguard gathered that another suspect, Onwueg-busi Tochukwu Victor, 48, was also arrested  with 51.5kg of ephedrine found inside his luggage.

A 59 year old grandmother was on Wednesday found dead in her bedroom at the One Day Road, Awkunanaw area of Enugu.

The woman identified as Mrs. Agnes Elue, from Ogwashi-Uku, Delta state was said to have been clubbed to death last Sunday by her teenage house boy whose identity is being withheld. Reps Summon Minister of finance, Okonjo-Iweala, Others Over N21billion Tax Evasion Scam

Minister of finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Minister of agriculture, Dr Akinwumi Adesina and others have been summoned by the House of Representatives over alleged N21billion rice importation tax evasion scam.

According to Vanguard, the ministers and 25 rice importers are expected to explain to the lawmakers how over N21bn tax was evaded despite the provision of subsidy by the Federal Government to the importers.

It was also reported the whole rice importation exercise was grossly abused by the importers and laced with fraud.

Revealed President Jonathan Borrowed N473B to Keep Nigeria From Collapsing

Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Minister for the Economy, yesterday, put to rest fears of immediate removal of fuel subsidy, as she confirmed that N145.2 billion provision was made for it in 2015 budget. 

Speaking to newsmen in Abuja as reported by Vanguard, she said: “I want to clarify that there has been some misinformation that has gone around in the media about the fact that the National Assembly passed the 2015 budget without provision for fuel subsidy. It is not true.

“It is important that you note that the National Assembly approved provisions of N100 billion for PMS (Petroleum Motor Spirit, otherwise called petrol) and N45.2 billion for kerosene subsidy. So, it is not true that they passed the budget without provision for subsidy.”

Aliko Dangote insists on buying Arsenal...

Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has said he is still working towards buying Arsenal Football Club, despite the fact that his bid to acquire a stake in the club was rebuffed by the owners in 2010.

In an interview with Bloomberg, while on a journey from Addis Ababa to Lagos last Friday, Dangote expressed hope that his new strategy would enable him buy the north London club at a price the owners won’t want to resist.

He said, “I still hope, one day at the right price, that I’ll buy the team. I might buy it, not at a ridiculous price but a price that the owners won’t want to resist. I know my strategy,” Dangote, a known fan of the north London club, said.
