Mr Ronald Onguntubor, has called on kind hearted Nigerians to assist his musician son suffering from brain tumour with N6 million to foot his medical bills.

Onguntubor, the father of the Port Harcourt-based musician, Mr Pere Onguntubor, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Friday.
He said that the son, 20, popularly known as J.CIN, was diagnosed of brain tumour in 2013.
Onguntubor, an estate agent, said that the N6 million would be used for brain surgery in an Indian hospital.

He said that J.CIN had been taken to many hospitals in Port Harcourt and was later referred to the Military Hospital in the city where he was confirmed to have brain tumour after a brain scan.
“I do not have N6 million for the surgery, hence I’m appealing to fellow good Nigerians to come to his rescue with anything.

“Our best bet is to fly him to India as advised by the doctor who carried out the scan for safe operation.
“J.CIN has produced musical works for so many popular musicians in Nigeria and if rescued, he will bring glory and joy to many upcoming artistes in the South/South and the nation as a whole.

“The young man took ill in August 2013 and is still lying on bed till date with loss of memory, sight and hearing coupled with bed-wetting.
“The young man’s life is at stake; please I need your help and do not allow me to watch my son die,” Onguntubor said.

Veteran Actor, Pete Edochie has declared that none of his five children would join politics in Nigeria due to the corrupt nature of the nation’s politics.

Pete Edochie disclosed this in a recent interview with the Tribune Newspaper.

The actor said,

“Can I ever be a politician? God forbid! Will any of my children become a politician? Let God forbid it now that I am still alive. I will discourage him. I remember an occasion that a politician was on the television and I was sitting with another politician, and the one on TV was screaming, ‘If I get the people who stole this money, I will not only sack them; I will prosecute them,’ and the politician by my side said ‘Nonsense! He took the money; I was there.’”

Berating the political structure, the renowned actor known for his wicked roles in movies said,

“Look at people crossing from one party to the other. It just shows that our democracy has no meaning. The people you owe your obligation to are those who elected you, who make up your constituency. Before you make any decision or defect, consult them. It is rather unfortunate. Before we gravitate to 2015, by the time they want to pick a presidential candidate, that is where the problem will come from. Let’s watch.”

Lending his voice on the recent controversial statement made by Pastor Chris Okotie, Pete said,

“He is entitled to his opinion. He has the right to say whatever he likes and he is using that right.

Constitutionally, he is entitled to it. Stupidity is what we all have in common as human beings, but some people insist that improving it is their entitlement. So, you expect Pete Edochie and other Catholics to be angry? No, I won’t. When people condemn T. B. Joshua and say he is using devilish powers, I tell them, ‘Go and use devilish powers and do what he is doing too.’ I don’t believe in running people down because you can’t reach their gifts and depriving others of their hard-earned credit.” 

BETRAYED HUSBAND: "How I Discovered Many Years Later That My Wife’s Boss Is Father Of 'Our' Son"

A man in Ekiti who is seeking the end of his 25-year-old marriage has revealed how he discovered that he was not father of his wife’s 4th child.

57-year-old Isaac Jemibola has petitioned a Customary court sitting in the Ikole area of the state to dissolve his marriage to 48-year-old Olayemi due to adultery on her part.

According to Mr. Jemibola, his wife confessed to the illicit affair which took place in 2002 and further told him that the fourth child wasn’t his but was instead fathered by her former boss.

"She confessed to have had an extramarital affair with her former boss which resulted in the pregnancy of the fourth child. My wife said she had given her life to Christ and that her desire to make heaven made her confess based on the advice from her pastor. She added that the paternity of the fourth child was in doubt since both the boss and I slept with her the same week," he said.

Jemibola further told the court that he reported the matter to his parents who pleaded with the woman to reverse her confession.

"She however insisted that she was following the dictates of the Bible. I purposely don’t want to do the DNA test because I don’t want to hate the child." he said.

Olayemi admitted committing the offence, but kicked against dissolution of the marriage.

"I did it because Jemibola was befriending another woman during the period which made him abandon me for almost six months. It was that same period that my former boss, who normally took me to work in his car, made love advances at me. Both men made love with me at almost the same period. After some years, I discovered that the child looked quite different from his siblings and out of guilt, I decided to tell him the truth. “I pleaded for his forgiveness but he refused," Olayemi said.

In her ruling, the court president, Mrs Yemisi Ojo, adjourned the hearing to April 7.

BREAKING NEWS: PDP Chairman Leads Thugs To Burn APC Membership Register In Enugu

The clamp down on opposition parties took another dimension in Enugu on Saturday as armed men suspected to be Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) thugs hijacked and burnt the All Progressives Congress, APC, membership register.

The incident took place at Udi, the country home of Governor Sullivan Chime of the state.

A source told Daily Post that collation of materials from the on-going APC membership registration exercise was ongoing at the Udi collation centre at Ninth Mile Corner when about 15 armed thugs barged into the place and disrupted the exercise.

APC officials who narrowly escaped from the centre at IFEPET Garden Ninth Mile, alleged that the thugs were led by the factional chairman of PDP in Udi, Isaac Nwoye.

The thugs reportedly dumped the register in a nearby bush, soaked it with petrol and set it on fire.

WICKEDNESS: Man Finally Faces Wrath Of Law For Raping His 9-Yr-Old And 13-Yr-Old Daughters For 2 YEARS! (PHOTOS)

A 35-year-old bus driver, Adeleke Adetayo, who was charged with sleeping with his nine-year-old and 13-year-old daughters, has been sentenced by the Family Court unit of an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court to 14 years imprisonment.

Adetayo was reportedly arrested in July 2013 and his two daughters were rescued after a sexual abuse that lasted two years.

Following his arrest, his children were sent to the Lagos State Children’s Home, where they lamented that they had been scarred for life as a result of the abuse they suffered from their father.

The six-month trial of Adetayo culminated in him finally pleading guilty to sexual assault of his children.

In her judgement, Chief Magistrate A. Oshoniyi found Adetayo guilty of sexual abuse and child defilement, sentencing him to seven years each for the crime against each child.

The judgment has been hailed by activists and government officials involved in the case, who stated that it was a victory for the Child Rights Act, 2005, which has hitherto been flouted by many criminals.

The Child Rights Act prescribes a sentence of 14 years for a person found guilty of having sexual intercourse with a child.

Director of the Esther Child Rights Foundation, Mrs. Esther Ogwu, who rescued the children and handed them over to the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviationn, hailed the judgment as a message to paedophiles in the state that the law would catch up with them.

She said, “I cannot be happier about how this case turned out. It is not only about the fact that the law has prevailed but that it is now clear that child defilement cases can be effectively prosecuted.

“Anybody who feels that defiling children is their core competence should understand that it is just a matter of time, the law will catch up with them. The lives of those children have been changed forever, their father should spend some time to ruminate about that behind bars.”

There was no way of reaching the mother of the abused children, Kemi, for comments.  The woman who has since remarried in Oyo Stat has remained incommunicado since her children were taken into custody by the state government.

Adetayo is to spend his sentence at the Kirikiri Prisons.

TOUCH OF GOD: Pregnant Mom Gets Killed, But Baby Survives

A nine-months pregnant Brooklyn woman was killed Thursday morning by a construction loader clearing snow from the fierce nor’easter that dumped a foot of snow on the city.

Min Lin, 36, was dead on arrival at Maimonides Medical Center, but her nearly full-term baby boy survived after being delivered by Caesarean section. He was in critical condition.

“The baby is not looking good and [his father] is very worried,” said Song Qing Hwang, 34, a female roommate of the couple, who spoke on the phone to Lin’s grieving husband.

“I’m not sure what to feel. I feel very sad for the loss of my friend.”

Lin and her husband were loading groceries into the trunk of their car when tragedy struck.

The 42-year-old store owner smashed into Lin while backing up a Bobcat S250 he was using to plow the parking lot, sources said.

No charges were filed pending an investigation, but neighbors said they had seen the merchant driving erratically in the past.

“He almost hit me and my wife yesterday as we were going across the street. The guy was a speed demon. I thought, that man is going to kill somebody someday. And look what happens,” said Marvin Lopez, 43, a janitor who lives across from the parking lot.

Stephen Keshi Opens ‘World Cup Door’ For Odemwingie, But...

Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, has said the door to the World Cup is open for Osaze Odemwingie, but insisted on a talk with the striker.

The two were involved in a highly discussed and publicized row during which the Stoke City striker used Twitter platform to blast the Eagles handler after he was sensationally left out of a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations training camp in Portugal.

Obasanjo Is A Spoiler And Can't Keep To His Words - Kashamu Attacks OBJ Over Comments On Jonathan

The Chairman, Organisation and Mobilisation Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South-West, Chief Buruji Kashamu, has berated former President Olusegun Obasanjo for saying President Goodluck Jonathan asked for one term in office.

Obasanjo, while speaking to a London-based tabloid, Bloomberg News, on Wednesday, had said Jonathan promised to serve just one term during the pre-2011 election campaign.

In a statement on Friday, he said contrary to Obasanjo’s earlier decision to stay away from activities in the ruling party to press home his grievances, the ex-President had the motive to be the spoiler from within.

Kashamu said, “Among the other things he (Obasanjo) said, the one that caught my attention was where he said, “One of the things that is (sic) very important in the life of any man or any person is that he will be a man or a person of his word…

“Ordinarily, as it has been said elsewhere, I would have chosen to ignore him but I could not stomach Pa Obasanjo’s sanctimony.”

In the interview, the ex-President had said in parts, “President Jonathan said, not only once, twice, publicly, not only in Nigeria, outside Nigeria, that he would have one term, and said that to me.

“One of the things that is very important in the life of any man or any person, is that he should be a man or person of his word,” Obasanjo said, adding that “If you decide that your word should not be taken seriously, that’s entirely up to you.”

Kashamu, however, recalled that Jonathan had stated during a media chat held on September 29, 2013, that he did not sign any agreement for a single term and challenged those who said so to produce their evidence.

He added that it was confusing whether to address Obasanjo as a fellow PDP man or a member of the opposition. He said while the ex-President had told the whole world in his January 7, 2014, letter to the leadership of the ruling party that he was withdrawing from the activities of the party, he had yet to back off.

Kashamu said, “Nothing drives this point home more succinctly than a meeting he held with a handful of his associates a few days ago. He told them to go and register with the All Progressives Congress and that he had negotiated with his kinsman, Governor Ibikunle Amosun, to fix them up.

“He said, as part of the deal, he had already secured the Ogun-Central Senatorial ticket of the APC for the former National Auditor of our great party, Mr. Bode Mustapha.

“Now to think that the same man, who cannot keep to his words, is the same person sermonising on the virtues of honour leaves much to be desired.”

He noted that Jonathan had the right to decide whether to run or not.

Security Floods Streets Of Kano For Goodluck Jonathan

The President, Goodluck Jonathan, is set to pay a visit to Kano State, leading to an immense tightening of security in the area.

Nigerian troops have reportedly taken over major streets in the commercial city of Kano this Saturday ahead of the visit of President Goodluck Jonathan. 

Combat ready anti-riot policemen and men from Department of State Security Services were also seen in their large numbers on the streets.

The visit of Mr. President to the ancient city coincides with the annual Maulud celebration by the Quadriyya sect that involves large procession of faithful.

No doubt Rihanna "can't remember to forget" the mistakes she says her accountants made which resulted in the Unapologetic singer nearing bankruptcy in 2009.

She might be singing "All I see is signs / All I see is dollar signs" now — but in her gross mismanagement lawsuit against accounting firm Berdon LLP, she says she found herself "effectively bankrupt" four years ago.

Nollywood actress, Liz Benson  who ruled the silver screen in the early 90s and disappeared into the thin air when the ovation was very loud has resurfaced again.

The  talented screen diva recently featured in  Stephanie Okereke-Linus’ new flick, ‘Dry’.

The flick  centres  on Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF), a disease in women that is common in the northern part of the country.
Her return to her first love-acting has been greeted with a lot of excitement, especially among her teeming fans who have missed on screen for a very long time.

Liz Benson started acting as a kid. She rose to fame when she acted in the popular television series, ‘Fortunes’ in 1993, where she played the role of Mrs. Agnes Johnson.

Her role in ‘Glamour Girls’ also stood her out. In 1996, she dumped acting to make peace with her maker.

Heavy shooting at Chevron’s $8.4bn facility in Delta

There was panic in the Escravos in  Warri area of Delta State on Saturday morning as armed troops stormer the Escravos Gas to Liquid facility to break the week long industrial action by aggrieved workers.
It was learnt that that armed troops shoot their way into the camp, which has been shut down by the angry workers since Monday morning.

Panic workers at the facility told our reporter “The soldiers came yesterday and gave us ultimatum to open up the premises or face the consequences. They waited till about 5 pm and left. That was yesterday (Friday).
“But they came back this morning and shot their way in. They cut the wire fence and started beating everybody with whips and the butts of the guns. They were firing teargas and shooting sporadically,” our source added.

Workers had grounded activities at the $8.4bn EGTL over disagreement with management and alleged poor working conditions.

They complained about the health hazard of their jobs at the favility, lack of proper remuneration and poor quality food since Chevron took over the facility from the builders.
Some workers were fleeing the facility in boats at the time of this report (6am) on Saturday morning.

Mission to free 20 abducted girls Military pounds Boko Haram’s cells

Konduga and environs in Borno State have come under aerial attack from the military in the latest round of operation to flush out Boko Haram insurgents from the area.

The Defence Headquarters deployed more jets and troops to Konduga in the aftermath of Tuesday’s massacre of about 51 residents of the town by the terrorists.Some other sources said as many as 70 people may have been killed.

20 girls were abducted during the insurgency.

The troops were ordered to liberate the abducted women immediately.

The United States yesterday asked the Federal Government to investigate the Konduga killings and ensure the safe return of the abductees to their families.

It was gathered that the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, ordered more jets into Konduga and other vulnerable parts of Borno State.

The land surveillance includes a “cordon and search” of Konduga and neighbouring towns and villages.

Sources said identified cells and bases of Boko Haram in the area have come under heavy pounding in the last 48 hours.

A military source said: “More fighter jets have been deployed in the Konduga area and neighbouring towns and villages.

“Besides securing the town and nearby villages, a mandate was given to the troops to secure the release of those abducted.

“We are also suspecting insider sabotage in Konduga. This is why intelligence unit is investigating the remote and immediate causes of the sect’s attack on the town.”

Contacted, spokesman for the Defence Headquarters, Maj-Gen. Chris Olukolade, said: “The military authorities have directed troops to embark on air and land surveillance not only in Konduga, but in all parts of Borno State.

“A cordon and search operation is also in progress, including how to set free those abducted.”

Responding to a question, Olukolade added: “There is no fresh attack so far on Konduga. There is just panic and some people are fleeing to the bush in Konduga based on the fears created by rumours of attack.

“A patrol team has been there and it confirmed that there was no fresh attack as rumoured.”

Also yesterday, the United States Embassy in Nigeria called for investigation into the killing of more than 70 in Konduga.

The embassy expressed concern about the fate of abducted women in the area, and pleaded with the Federal Government to ensure that the abductees are returned safely to their families.

It condemned the massacre in “the strongest terms” and offered “its sincere sympathy to the families of scores of murdered civilians and students abducted from the Government Girls Senior Science Secondary School and Ashigar School of Business and Administrative Studies.”

Expressing deep concern at the “welfare of the young women currently being held against their will,” it asked government to investigate this attack, ensure all abductees are safely returned to their families and bring the perpetrators to justice as soon as possible.

The USA pledged its support for Nigerians in “their struggle to stop the abhorrent actions of Boko Haram and associated terrorist groups.”
