Bayelsa state Independent Electoral Commission,Simon Akpen. assasinated

The Executive Secretary of the Bayelsa state Independent Electoral Commission, Simon Akpen has been assassinated. According to Sahara Reporters, Akpen was shot point blank in the head at his residence in Otiotio road, Yenogoa around 10pm on Friday October 10th by unknown gunmen who laid an ambush for him as he returned home from an outing. He died on the spot.

Confirming the incident, the state's police commissioner, Valentine Ntomchukwu, said it's a suspected case of assassination as no valuable was taken from the deceased residence after he was killed

"In my opinion, it may be a case of assassination because they didn't take anything away after killing him" Ntomchukwu said

President Jonathan flags off first phase of the $1billion Azura-Edo Power Plant

President Goodluck Jonathan has flagged-off the first phase of the $1billion Azura-Edo Power Plant.
The power plant, which is the first fully privately financed Independent Power Plant (IPP) in the country is situated in Ihovbor/Orior Odemwende communities of Edo state.

Jonathan called on communities around the country who are hosts to several federal, state and private sector projects to play their roles, as there is development in partnership, while saying that the Federal Government will continue to ensure that the growth of the electricity industry becomes self-sustaining and sustainable.

He said “I want to use this opportunity to call on all the local communities around the country who are hosts to several federal, state and even private sector projects, that have been hindered by community disruptions, to recognize that in partnership there is development and so, everyone must play their roles”.

Update on Bird that turned into Woman in Oshodi, Lagos (PHOTOS)

 According to eyewitnesses at the scene of the incident in Lagos, the bird collided with an electric wire while going for an operation and fell down, after which it changed into this middle aged woman. It was both a scary and a dramatic scene. Many people could not stand to look at the strange woman. She was later taken away by men of the Nigeria police while in near-unconscious state.

GRAPHIC PICS: Another Deadly Virus Surfaces - Marburg Haemorrhagic Fever (MHF)

With West Africa, and indeed the rest of the world, still reeling from the deaths brought about by the Ebola virus, the recent death of a Ugandan hospital technician of another deadly viral disease, Marburg Haemorrhagic Fever (MHF), has brought fresh fears, Tribune Newspaper reports.

Uganda’s Ministry of Health disclosed that a total of 99 people who had been in contact with the victim had been moved to quarantine. These contacts are being monitored for signs and symptoms of the disease after tests confirmed that the 30-year-old man who worked as a radiographer in a Kampala hospital died of the disease. The man was said to have had a headache, abdominal pains, diarrhoea and vomited blood before he died.

John F. Kennedy Airport in US Starts Ebola Screenings at JFK Airport Today

John F. Kennedy Airport in New York has become the first in the United States to begin a stepped-up screening program for possible Ebola infection.

According to Reuters, medical teams at the airport, armed with Ebola questionnaires and temperature guns, began screening travelers from three West African countries - Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone as U.S. health authorities stepped up efforts to stop the spread of the virus. Those countries have seen most of the deaths from the outbreak, which has claimed more than 4,000 lives.

Super Eagles Lost To Sudan

Nigeria, this evening in Khartoum, lost their 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifying match against Sudan.

The result, 0-1 is Sudan's first win of the group and their first victory over the Super Eagles since 1967. SHOCKING: Police arrest pastor with human skull

35 year old Clement Oyetunde (pictured above) who claims to be a pastor with the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Osun state was paraded by men of the Osun state police command yesterday October 9th after he was found with human skull and other charms at his church premises in the Adeowo area of Modakeke in Osun.

According to Tribune newspapers, Clement said a friend brought the skull to his house and buried it in his compound but that the spirit of the skull kept calling for it to be returned

Relatives torture two children over alleged witchcraft in Akwa Ibom

The Nigerian government need to get involved and start arresting people who torture children for allegedly being witches. This is so wrong. Two 8 year old children named Mary Odiong and Ekong Asua (pictured above) were tortured and sent out of their homes in the Okobo LGA of Akwa Ibom State on the allegation of witchcraft.

According to Punch, the little girl said her relatives came after her after one of her uncles died from AIDS. They blamed her for infecting him with the disease. That's so silly!

18yr old kills his own mother and loses his virginity to her corpse(photos)

 18 year old Kevin Jazrael Davis (pictured left) has been sentenced to life in prison for killing his own mother. According to reports, Kevin attacked his mother (pictured right) with a hammer, striking her 20 times on the head, on March 26th 2014 at their home and then had sex with her corpse.

According to the Corpus Christi Caller-Times, in a police video showed to jurors during his trial, Kevin confessed to having violent and sexual fantasies involving women, including his own mother and sister. He attacked his mother when they were alone and turned himself in to police the next day.

Macedonia Seals Hotel after British Man with Ebola Symptoms Dies

A British man with Ebola-like symptoms has died in Macedonia and the hotel where he was staying has been sealed off and those thought to have had contact with him put under quarantine.

Reuters reports that a Health Ministry official said the man had arrived from Britain on Oct. 2 and had been rushed to hospital at 3 p.m. on Thursday, where he died several hours later. Dr. Jovanka Kostovska of the ministry's commission for infectious diseases said the man had been suffering from
fever, vomiting and internal bleeding, and that his condition had deteriorated rapidly.

Amid fears that the disease might spread in Europe, Kostovska told a news conference:

"These are all symptoms of Ebola, which raises suspicions with this patient."

2015: Buhari postpones Presidential declaration

Former head of state and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has postponed his formal declaration to contest for the presidency at the 2015 elections.

Buhari was initially billed to declare yesterday, but his campaign organization has released a statement saying it has been postponed till Wednesday, 15 October.

He is expected to make a public announcement of his aspiration at the Eagle Square, Abuja.

The statement said, “The Buhari Presidential Campaign Organization has announced that the formal declaration ceremony by General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) of his intention to contest the 2015 presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been postponed for one week.”

Asari Dokubo Opens Up on Alleged Involvement in the Smuggled $9.3m (Tweet)

Since the APC alleged the possibility that ex-Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo was among those that was caught with the smuggled $9.3million in South Africa, many have been waiting to hear from him.

Speaking from his current base in Saudi Arabia, Asari denies involvement in the deal. He said:

The police arrested the owner of the baby factory for supposedly selling one of the new- born babies to yet-to-be identified person at Obosi for N700,000 without the consent of his mother.

She was alleged to have opened a maternity home at Odekpe in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State. At this place women take care of the babies after birth and then the owner sells them to interested buyers with or without their mothers’ consents.
