Finally Lupita Nyong'o stolen Oscar dress worth $150,000 'recovered'

A dress "resembling" the $150,000 (£97,000) outfit worn by actress Lupita Nyong'o at this year's Oscars that was stolen this week has been recovered, Los Angeles police have said.

Mexico Captures Most Wanted Drug Kingpin (Photo)

Mexican authorities have captured the top leader of a major drug cartel, who has been wanted for years, Al Jazeera has learned.

Servando Gomez Martinez, also known as “La Tuta”, was reportedly captured on Friday in the city of Morelia, in Michoacan state, according to local media.

Al Jazeera’s John Holman, who is reporting from Mexico City, said that Martinez was arrested “without an incident.” 

Our correspondent said Martinez is now being transferred to a detention centre in Mexico City.

Gov. Fayose’s blackmail can’t stop Buhari –APC

The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State has said Governor Ayodele Fayose’s alleged blackmail of its candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) cannot stop him from winning the presidential election.

Go face your trial, Supreme Court tells former Plateau State Governor, Dariye

The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed an interlocutory appeal which has stalled the trial of former Plateau State Governor, Mr. Joshua Dariye, for corruption charges since 2007.

Justice Sylvester Ngwuta who delivered the lead judgement described the scenario played out in the entire case as a “sad commentary” on the nation’s fight against corruption.

In a unanimous judgement by the five-man panel, the court ordered the accused to return to the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Gudu, Abuja, to face his trial.

James Ibori’s conviction cost N4.4bn –Senate Claims

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Drugs, Narcotics, Financial Crimes and anti-corruption, Senator Victor Lar, said on Friday that a whopping sum of £14m (N4.4bn) was spent to secure the conviction of former Governor James Ibori, in the United Kingdom on April 17, 2012.

 Three ladies aged between 25 and 30 years died Thursday afternoon after the hummer bus in which they were travelling was knocked off the Lagos-Benin highway by an operational vehicle driven by operatives of the Nigerian Customs Service.

Woman Kills Baby After Giving Him Heroin Overdose so She Could Take Cocaine in Peace (Picture)

A mother who is a drug addict gave her baby concentrated heroin to 'knock him out or make him sleep' so she could take crack cocaine 'in peace', a court has heard.

Kelly Emery, 34, was charged with manslaughter after her son Fenton Hogan died of a heroine overdose.

Sexual Abuse Victims Write Moving Letters to Themselves that have now Gone Viral (Photos)

A campaign to encourage victims of sexual abuse to write love letters to themselves has gone viral - with hundreds of people taking part.

 The initiative - #survivorloveletters - was started by artist Tani Ikeda, owner of ImMEDIAte Justice and a survivor of abuse herself, as an 'act of defiance' about her experiences. Tani, who lives in LA, said the movement, which has seen the letters shared on social media websites, is a 'cathartic' way in which survivors of abuse can share their stories.

She started the initiative on Valentine's Day as it is the anniversary on the day she was abused. Tani told Femail that she hopes the project will help other survivors of sexual abuse to feel less alone. Read some of the moving letters after the cut.

“I Wanted To Test Her Virginity” – Father Caught Attempting To Molest Daughter

A man arrested for allegedly attempting to rape his daughter in Ajeromi, Ifelodun local government area of Lagos State, has told the police that he wanted to test her virginity.

Leadership reports that the suspect, identified simply as Alex, was said to have attempted to rape his 15-year- old daughter, Agnes (not real name), in his apartment at Abiodun street, Ajegunle.

Alex was apprehended by his neighbours and handed over to the police at Ajegunle police station but
was later released on bail at the weekend.

Alex had told Agnes to undress up to her underwear, and allegedly wanted to make love to her but she raised the alarm. The neighbours came to her rescue after forcing the door open.

Above is a photo of Captain Mbene Matute, the most senior Cameroonian army officer who was killed during a battle with Boko Haram members on Wednesday Feb 25th. He was killed after the vehicle he was riding in with other colleagues struck a landmine, blowing up the vehicle. It happened in Gamboru, a Nigerian town.
