Sad: Rio Ferdinand's Wife Rebecca Ellison Dies from Cancer (Photo)

The wife of former Manchester United and England footballer Rio Ferdinand has died from cancer.
The QPR defender, 36, released a statement saying his "wonderful wife and soul mate" Rebecca Ellison had "passed away peacefully" at a London hospital. She died on Friday night.

In the statement, Ferdinand said:

"Rebecca, my wonderful wife, passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. She was a fantastic loving mother to our three beautiful children. She will be missed as a wife, sister, aunt, daughter and granddaughter. She will live on in our memory, as a guide and inspiration.

Policeman kills lover, colleague for cheating in Abuja (Photo)

A jealous policeman has taken his own life after killing his lover and a colleague over alleged cheating.

The lady, who sold GSM recharge cards, was said to be double-dating the two policemen.

Investigations showed that the tragic incident took place at the popular CBN Junction in Karu, a satellite town in the Federal Capital Territory on Thursday.

Shocking: 19 Nigerians Attempt Shipping Drugs to Asia Despite Death Sentence

 The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has said it saved 20 people from the death penalty in Asia by preventing them from smuggling drugs out of Nigeria.

In a statement released on Thursday, the agency said since January 2014, 19 Nigerians and a Ghanaian have been arrested in Nigerian airports attempting to smuggle 106,914 kilogrammes of narcotics. Ahmadu Giade, NDLEA’s Chairman said:

“Sixteen of the suspects were apprehended at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos while four others including a Ghanaian were caught at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu.

Islamic Group,ISIS smashes thieves’ heads with concrete blocks as part of sick brand of justice (Graphic photos)

 ISIS have been pictured dropping concrete blocks onto the head of two thieves as a retribution for their crimes. Watched by a massive crowd, the masked killers slammed the blocks of stone onto the men’s heads in ‘qisas’ – meaning ‘eye for an eye’ – retribution.

The militants raise their hands to the sky as the blocks rain down on the men, who are bound and had their heads hung over a kerb.

They had reportedly robbed and murdered women in the Nineveh province in northern Iraq.

A man who stabbed a CBBC actor to death outside a nightclub in central London has been found guilty of murder.

Jeffrey Okafor, 24, attacked Carl Beatson Asiedu in Vauxhall in August 2009 when a late-night row escalated into violence. The court was told he confessed to his girlfriend before fleeing to Nigeria using his brother's passport.

Mr Beatson Asiedu, who appeared in the CBBC series M.I. High, was also a part-time DJ known as DJ Charmz.

Man Hangs Self in Uncompleted Building (Photo)

A young man has been found dead in an uncompleted building on Sefu Elelede Street in the Ibafo area of Ogun State.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the man, whose name had yet to be known, was found hanged by an electrician, identified simply as John, who saw the corpse and raised alarm. He had come to inspect the house.

It was gathered that the deceased, who was found in jeans and shirt, hanged himself in the living room section of the uncompleted structure. His body was bloated when it was discovered.

OMG: Police Corporal Kills Inspector, Homeless Girl and Self over

An argument between a police corporal and his senior colleague, an inspector, over who actually "owns" a pretty female recharge card seller, ended in tragedy when the corporal corked his riffle, killed the card seller and the inspector, before killing himself.

The incident occurred yesterday evening in the Karu Town, near the CBN Junction, when the corporal, who claimed he was interested in the recharge card seller, simply known as Chidinma, saw the inspector and the recharge seller sitting together over some bottles of soft drinks. According to an Leadershipng, the corporal alighted from a vehicle and accosted the inspector and the recharge card seller. While he accused the inspector of encroaching into his territory, he accused the lady of unfaithfulness, saying he had invested in the girl.

Sad: Female AAU Student Crushed to Death in Edo State (Grapgic Photo)

A female student of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma in Edo State, was crushed to death yesterday by a tipper lorry.

President Goodluck Jonathan, Shekarau shun UNILAG convocation

The University of Lagos convocation ended on Thursday with President Goodluck Jonathan and his education minister, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, shunning the three-day event.

Oh Dear! Boko Haram Allegedly Heading to South Africa to Bomb Them For Killing Nigerians

 The dreaded Boko Haram insurgents has been spotted in Zimbabwe in transit to South Africa, according to reports by UK-based news outlet ZimEye, citing Zimbabwe’s national intelligence agency.

According to the Zimbabwean news website, the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) issued an intelligence report, warning that the Islamist militant group is in Zimbabwe en route to neighbouring South Africa.

ZimEye added that the South African intelligence service has alerted police officers in Zimbabwe’s Matebeleland region about Boko Haram’s intentions to infiltrate South Africa.

15 killed in Kenya floods...

At least 15 people have been killed and six others missing in flash floods that hit Kenya’s Narok county, some 100 km from the capital Nairobi, following heavy rain pounded the region on Tuesday night.

Narok county commissioner Arthur Osiya said on Wednesday that rescue operations have been called off due to the rain, expressing fears that the death toll could rise.

The police and Kenya’s Red Cross Society are among the rescue teams.

FG demands corpses of executed Nigerians (Photo)

The Federal Government has condemned the execution of four Nigerians by the Indonesian authorities over drug-related offences, despite pleas for clemency by President Goodluck Jonathan.

The government, while commiserating with the families of the deceased, demanded the repatriation of the corpses of the executed Nigerians.

It explained that they would be given decent burials by their various communities.

Air force corporal slaps inspector at filling station in Lagos (Photos)

There was confusion at a filling station along the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road after a female police inspector attached to the Airport Police Command and identified as Mrs. Florence Anih, was slapped by a Nigerian Air Force lance corporal.

The lance corporal, who was in a truck marked, Rotary Group 205, was identified as Friday Zadiel.

Our correspondent learnt that the incident happened last Wednesday. Zadiel was said to be with another officer, who did not wear a name tag.
