the habit of going about cap in hand begging for votes each time they are nominated for awards. If your materials are good enough and the award process is transparent, I see no reason why you should go about embarrassingly soliciting for votes like a politician.

No award should be given based on public opinion. There should be a “competent” panel of judges selected to review the nominated materials and advise the organisers who the winners should be.

Female Soldier Beats Bus Conductor to Coma in Lagos

A female soldier in the Nigerian army yesterday beat a conductor to coma over change at Iyana Isashi, along Lagos- Badagry expressway in Lagos State.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robbery kingpin, Obinna Okorie, who claimed that he did not get married because he wanted to escape being caught by the police.

Effiom Etim Effiong, a 27 year old final year microbiology student of the University of Calabar has been arrested and arraigned for the murder of Dr. Godwin Iwatt, a lecturer in the same department.

Iwatt,who was also an examination and record officer in the department, was shot by an unknown gunman but died a few days later in hospital due to complications from the bullet wound. Mystery as Nigerian teen dies after collecting GCSE results

The shocking death of a 16 year old student,Temidayo Josesph, 16 has left police officers puzzled as the circumstances sorrounding his death are suspicious.

A 60-year-old Ohio morgue attendant has admitted to having sex with at least 100 corpses while on the job.
Kenneth Douglas, a resident of Hamilton, Ohio, said he had sex with the corpses between 1976 and 1992 while working the night shift.

In his deposition to the 6th US Circuit Court of Appeals, Douglas said he was drunk and on drugs while he carried out the perverse acts.

He said, “I would just get on top of them and pull my pants down. If I hadn’t had anything to drink when I went to work, it wouldn’t happen. I would do crack and go in and drink and go in.”

Douglas was inititally convicted of gross corpse abuse in 2008 after admitting to having sex with the corpse of a 19-year-old woman who had been murdered and nearly decapitated in 1991.

In 2012, Douglas admitted to having sex with two more corpse and he also confessed to having had sex with the corpse of a murder victim the day she was killed.

His crimes were first revealed when DNA connected him to semen found in one of his victims in 2008. The woman’s killer, David Steffan, admitted killing the woman but denied raping her, according to the NY Daily News.

Meanwhile, Douglas’ wife said she had tried to alert the morgue about her husband’s actions, but was told to stop calling.

A 40-year-old woman, Modupe Ajayi, on Wednesday, August 20 urged an Igando Customary Court, Lagos, to end her marrriage to her 50-year-old husband saying he gives her infection anytime they have sexual intercourse.

Modupe Ajayi, a laboratory technician also told the court that she once caught her husband in bed with her best friend in response to her husband’s petition.

Apparently, Modupe Ajayi’s husband in a petition had urged the court to dissolve his 12 years marriage for alleged threat to life with dangerous weapons and lack of respect from his wife.

Mr Ajayi who said he would have divorced her two-year-old but thought she would change told the court: “Whenever we are fighting she always picks up knife or other sharp objects to stab me”, he said.

Nigerian woman who died in Abu Dhabi was Ebola negative

A 35-year-old Nigerian woman who died in Abu Dhabi on Aug. 15 after showing possible symptoms of Ebola has tested negative to the virus.

An official of Nigerian Embassy in United Arab Emirates (UAE), who spoke on the condition of anonymity, confirmed this in Abuja. According to the official, the local health authorities have already informed the mission of their findings.

Minister of Health Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu announced today August 22nd that Nigeria has recorded two new cases of the Ebola disease.
