Man Charged With Illegal Sale Of N350m Warehouse in Lagos!!!

A 35-year-old man, Bidemi Okeowo, on Tuesday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly selling a warehouse unlawfully for N350 million.

Okeowo was arraigned before Magistrate Abimbola Komolafe on a charge of obtaining money by false pretences.

The prosecutor, Insp. Eranus Nnamonu, said the accused, whose address is unknown, committed the offence sometime in July 2013 at No. 7, Assembly Road, Satellite Town, Lagos.

Nnamonu alleged that Okeowo sold the warehouse and a piece of land to the duo of Alhaji Abdullahi Abubakar and Mr Francis Babajide.

He said that the accused falsely claimed he had the authority to sell the property which belonged to De-Cees & E International Company.

According to him, the offence contravenes Section 324 (1), (3) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused, on conviction, may be punished with three years imprisonment.

Okeowo, however, pleaded not guilty.

The magistrate granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

According to the magistrate, the sureties should be blood relations of the accused.

Komolafe also directed them to produce evidence of three years tax payment to the Lagos State Government as part of the bail conditions.

The case has been adjourned to April 16 for trial.(NAN)
