Edo Governor Commisserates With Ekhator’s Family

The Edo State Government has consoled with the family of late Mr. Samuel Ekhator, a retired Permanent Secretary in the State Civil Service. The Head of Service Mr. Igbaekemen Jerry Obazele described the late Mr. Ekhator as a “builder of men” during his life time.

Mr. Obazele recalled that the late Permanent Secretary served in various ministries, saying because of his contributions to the growth of the service, the state government found him worthy to be appointed chairman of the State Local Government Service Commission after his retirement.



The Head of Service who was represented by four Permanent Secretary including Mr. E.T. Idahosa, Rev. Samuel Uhunmwangho, Mrs. Helen Idugboe and Mr. Dan Aigbavoa stated that by all standard, the late Permanent Secretary lived a worthy and successful life. He reiterated the invaluable contribution of the late Ekhator until his demise, pointing out that the state government engaged him as a Consultant for the training of all categories of staff in his employment.

Mr. Obazele stated that late Ekhator has to his credit many books and publication which he added; are assets to humanity and therefore urged the family to take solace in the fact that the late Permanent Secretary touched lives of so many in the state and beyond. It would be recalled that the Head of Service on hearing of the death of the Permanent Secretary had immediately sent the Permanent Secretary, Office of the State Deputy Governor, Dr. Festus Okunrobo; the Permanent Secretary Central Administration, Mr. E.T. Idahosa and Barr. Azinegwin, Law Review Commission to visit and condoled with the family.

Mr. Obazele assured the family of the late Permanent Secretary that the state government would contribute towards the successful burial of the late Ekhator.

Responding on behalf of the Ekhator’s family, Mr. Isaac Osasuyi thanked the State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and the Head of Service Mr. Igbaekemen Jerry Obazele for identifying with the family in their hour of grief.

Mr. Osasuyi, while thanking the government of the State for his financial and material support towards the burial ceremony, he also appealed to government to give employment to the children of late Ekhator. At the visit was the former Head of Service, Mr. Anthony Edokpayi who is an in-law to the late Ekhator.
