Ebonyi Impeachment Saga: Presidency Intervenes...

BARELY eight days after the embattled Governor of Ebonyi state, Chief Martin Elechi was served an impeachment notice by the State House of Assembly, a reliable source close to Vanguard revealed that the Presidency had ordered the Governor to collapse the structure of Labour Party, LP into PDP to avoid the impeachment move against him.

Recall that the state House of Assembly had on Friday last week served Governor Elechi an impeachment notice following an eight-point allegation against him which revolved around corruption, fraud, gross misconduct, executive rascality, among others.

The source further revealed that the Governor in exchange for the deal, negotiated that his son, Elechi Elechi who is LP senatorial candidate for Ebonyi Central be given the senatorial position in the 2015 general election.

This was part of the ongoing reconciliatory move by the Presidency towards ensuring peace and stability of the state and to ensure that Ebonyi remain a PDP state.

Recall also that President Goodluck Jonathan had last Wednesday summoned the state Governor, Martin Elechi; Secretary to Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim and the PDP governorship candidate for Ebonyi state, Engr. David Umahi as well as some PDP leaders to a meeting at the presidential villa Abuja with a view to addressing the political situation in the state
The meeting, which lasted over five hours also had in attendance Vice President Namadi Sambo and some PDP governors led by chairman of the Governors Forum and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Obong Godswill Akpabio, Governors Sule Lamido of Jigawa State and his Benue State counterpart, Gabriel Suswam.
