Ibadan Horror: IG Finally Makes Official Statement

Almost seven days since a kidnappers’ den was discovered in Ibadan, Oyo State, western Nigeria, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, has finally made an official statement.

The policer boss, in a statement made through the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 11, Mr. Femi Omolaja, while on an assessment visit to the den on Thursday, vowed to do a thorough investigation into the crimes committed by suspected kidnappers at Soka in Ibadan, where hundreds of victims had been tortured or killed.

The kidnappers’ den was discovered last Saturday by a group of commercial motorcyclists, popularly called Okada riders, while they were searching for two of their colleagues who were missing.
According to reports, eight suspects have been arrested over the incident.
Omojola, who is in charge of Oyo, Osun and Ondo, said he came on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police.

He said: “Thorough investigation is ongoing and we don’t want to disclose any identity of those arrested in order not to hinder our investigation.”

Omolaja however, advised the people in the state to be sensitive of their environment and report any suspicious movement to the security agents.
