Police storm kidnappers’ den, rescue corporal, 2 others....

Kidnapers, yesterday, fled and abandoned their weapons as a Police Anti-Kidnapping Squad in Asaba, Delta State, stormed their den in a forest at Ibusa, to rescue a policeman, Corporal Abraham Ujah, and two others abducted by the gangsters.

The police team, led by a Superintendent of Police recovered a pump action rifle from the four-man gang which, on February 26, kidnapped two men and a lady at a construction site in Ibusa. They were all rescued.

Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the rescue, said: “In a follow-up investigation, operatives of Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad, led by SP John Nwede, acting on a tip-off, stormed the hideout of the kidnappers at Ibusa forest and rescued the three victims, among whom is Cpl Abraham Ujah, unhurt.

“The hoodlums escaped and abandoned one pump action gun, which was promptly recovered.”
She asserted that before the anti-kidnapping squad stepped in, the DPO, Ibusa Division, had mobilized a patrol team to the scene and recovered from the scene one permanent voter’s card, PVC, one Fidelity Bank ATM card and one I.D. card, all belonging to one Pastor Okonkwo Paul, the site engineer.
“Also recovered are two police identity cards bearing Cpl Abraham Ujah, one purse and a hand bag containing ID cards and N10,540 belonging to one Onochie Onukate Ethel,” she added.
Other items recovered were one motor battery, food flask, six office files, one Audi car, with number plate ASB 290 AG and one Nissan Almeria vehicle, AE 767 BKW.

The recovered items are suspected to be the properties of kidnap victims.
