Woman, 37, kidnapped, Rescued In Delta State...

Three gunmen on Thursday unleashed terror on residents of the new layout at Okpanam town in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State. The gang, which operated with a battle axe, The Eagle Online gathered, raided the houses behind the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Mega Station along Asaba/Benin Expressway.

They stormed the house of one Chidi Ajah, injured one Ifeanyi Ajah with their battle axe on his head, before whisking away his wife in their waiting Lexus Jeep 350 with registration number LND 813 CP. The victim was one Amarachi Chidi, a 37-year-old woman.

The state Police Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, said at the command headquarters in Asaba that the kidnappers demanded for a N10 million ransom for her release. Kalu said: “On the receipt of the report, operatives of Dragon Patrol team tracked the said Lexus Jeep to Ezi village where the vehicle was found abandoned by the criminals.
“Acting on a tip off, however, police patrol team from Onicha-Olona Division with the aid of Obomkpa Vigilante rescued the victim (Amarachi) at Obomkpa bush while the kidnappers escaped,” Kalu said.
She listed the items recovered to include the aforementioned Lexus Jeep 350. Kalu said investigation is ongoing at the Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad office at Asaba while efforts are on to arrest the hoodlums.
