A 25- year- old man, Danjuma, has died after spending five days  in the streets of Edo State, under rain and scorching sun.

Danjuma was reportedly dumped on the refuse heap in the state by his uncle, Mr. Arase, where he spent over 30 days  and fought to stay alive before he was rescued by some well spirited individuals who took him to the Faith Medical Centre for treatment.

He was born a paraplegic (a medical word for being paralyzed from the waist down) and the siblings of his mother, a former staff of Nigeria Telecommunication squandered all the money left by his mother and also started maltreating him, The Nation reports.

His dead body was found in the street in front of his uncle’s house where he was dumped again allegedly by officials of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

According to Mrs. Florence Igbinigie, a former Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in the state who took him to the hospital, he was fully recovered before he was discharged from the hospital. She then took him to the Ministry of Women Affairs where she left him and all efforts to locate where he was  taken to proved abortive.

Igbinigie who expressed shock that Danjuma resurfaced on the street said: “I took him to the ministry and they told me to wait for the commissioner. They did not call me again only for the SSG to call that I dumped an adult cripple at the ministry.
“The ministry was aware of his condition and a director told me they want to rehabilitate him. So I took him there. Nobody told me where they took Danjuma to and the commissioner refused to see me. I don’t know who brought him here. I was surprised to see the boy on the floor here.”
She explained that the boy had no problem aside his physical disabilities.
Youth leader in the street, Julius Inyangbe, disclosed that Danjuma was returned five days ago.
