I started rapping in Igbo when nobody was doing it — Mr Raw

Abia State-born, Ukeje Okechukwu Edwards, aka Mr. Raw, formally known as ‘Dat Nigga Raw,’ is one hip-hop artiste who has carved a niche for himself in the Nigerian music industry when he started rapping in Igbo. The RawDeal  label boss in an exclusive chat with Showtime revealed what he has been up to.
“My major project right now is the artistes I want to push out on my label, Raw Deal. I will release their names when the time is right. I am trying to assist other upcoming artistes to make it entertainment wise .
The Nigerian music   industry is still growing and   we are heading somewhere   because even in Africa, Nigeria is the biggest. When you talk about influential artistes in Africa, you will mention more Nigerian artistes.

It’s a plus, which  means we are doing more. I started rapping in Igbo when nobody was doing it. It wasn’t that easy then for people to accept it, but now it makes a whole lot of sense. I actually feel entertained seeing other artistes do what I started. I feel great when I see people like Phyno doing what I started.
