Cocaine in a chocolate box: 2 Nigerian men arrested over N243 million drugs

Two Nigerian men who tried to sneak £900,000 (N243,346,730) worth of cocaine into Belfast, Northern Ireland, have been charged with importing cocaine and converting criminal property.

Prosecutors said the package, which came from South America inside a box of chocolates, was seized after being intercepted by customs officials in French Guiana.

The two Nigerian men, Ndubuishi Onwu and Ike Emezina, both tried to gain access into a vacant south Belfast rental address where the drugs were sent to, but their attempts were unsucessful.
They were arrested in July, as part of the police investigation into the incident.

During a bail application in the court, the drugs were discovered in October 2013, inside a package containing glass and chocolates which was to be sent to a house at Melrose Street.
The prosecution lawyer told the court that the cocaine has an 68% purity valued at £900,000 once cut down to standard street levels.

Lord Justice Coghlin, who presided over the case adjourned their applications for bail after being told identification parades involving the estate agency staff have yet to take place.
