Robbers Invade THISDAY Office in Delta

Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers yesterday invaded THISDAY office in Boji Boji in Ika North-east Local Government Area of Delta State, carting away valuables worth millions of naira.

Investigation revealed that the robbers numbering about seven, invaded the office complex at about 1a.m, after scaling the perimeter fence into the premises.

It was also gathered that the hoodlums brought down the wall of the building to gain access into the offices from  where they made away with generator cables, office equipment, printing materials, industrial fans, television set, heavy equipment  and some unspecified amount of cash from the sales office.

An Administration Officer Mrs. Sandra Eme, said the robbers, who operated in a pick-up van, tied  the hands and legs of the security men on duty to enable them   perpetrate  their operation unchallenged for four hours.

The hoodlums, she said,  also  made away with the motorcycles, of the security men after their operation.

The Boji Boji office accommodates THISDAY multi-million naira South-east  and South-south regional printing press and other ancillary services departments that cover the zones’ operations.

THISDAY Managing Director, Mr. Eniola Bello, while speaking on the development, said management was awaiting the outcome of  the police investigation before taking any action.

Meanwhile, the two security officers attached to the office complex are currentlytelling the police all they know about the robbery incident.
