Why Young People Struggle to Finish– Dale Partridge

Success in business is judged by what we finish, not by what we start. This thought has plagued me this past year. I have come to the realization that my generation is a living epidemic of starters.

18 months ago I started Sevenly with my partner Aaron Chavez. For the first year, the company stole my heart and my attention. But to be honest, the serial entrepreneur inside me, wanted to start something else. Why is that? People would tell me, “Dale you’re a starter.” Or, “Dale you have to work in your strengths, be comfortable with who God made you.” Not to say these thoughts don’t carry truth, but to me, I think I just had a discipline problem. I think most young leaders do.

After battling this thought for almost 8 months now, I have forced myself to refocus. I have dedicated myself to finish, and to finish well. Now, I don’t know what that means at this point, but I assume that time will tell. The lesson to be learned is… the best things in life come from an intense discipline to focus. An intense ability to finish. So before you get bored on your current project, why not think about finishing your other projects first.

What projects or ideas have you struggled to finish? Tell me in the comments below.
