SEE Why These Four Brothers Were Jailed For Life

Four brothers have been jailed for life by an Osun State High Court sitting in Ila-Orangun, headquarters of Ila Local Government Area of the state for the murder of one Bamidele Ajiboye.

The four men had murdered Bamidele, a farmer in Oyi, Ifedayo local government area of the state on April 13, 2004, over a land dispute between their family and the deceased’s family.

The Adeniji brothers, who had been on trial since 2006, were arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.

The convicts, Olabisi Adeniji, Adelowo Adeniji, Oladapo Adeniji and Kolawole Adeniji had been earlier sentenced to death by an Osun state high court, but the Court of Appeal sitting in Akure presided over by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, later ordered for a retrial of the case at the state High Court.

Fresh hearing of the case later resumed at the Ila-Orangun division of the state High Court in 2009 but there was long adjournment.

The Adeniji brothers were sentenced to life imprisonment by the trial judge, Justice J. O Oloyede, after he found them guilty of the crime.
