This is contained in a statement signed by the Media and Public Affairs Officer of the party in Port Harcourt, Chief Eze Chuwuemeka.

"Some of the registration officers and innocent people of Rivers, who turned out to be registered by the APC, were attacked by thugs to destablise the exercise," he said.

"Our registration units in Tombia, old Bakana and Woji ward 6 were attacked." The chairman of the Degema Local Government Supervisory Committee for the registration exercise and a former chairman of the Rivers Civil Service Commission, Mr Ben Orugbani, escaped death when his house was shattered with bullets," Chuwuemeka alleged.

He advised registration officers and members not to be intimidated by the attacks.
Chuwuemeka also urged the police to ensure security in the registration centres.
When contacted, the Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) of the Rivers Command, Ahmad Muhammad, said the command was yet to receive report on the alleged attacks.

To recall, on Thursday unknown gunmen reportedly stormed a registration point in Degema area of Rivers opened fire and killed a youth on the spot.
