Igarra shooting: Oshiomhole assures of justice

BENIN — Governor Adams Oshomhole of  Edo State has said that he would ensure that the police dispense justice with the arrested of nine persons in last Wednesday’s Igarra masquerade festival shooting, in which two youths of the community were shot.

He spoke when he received elders of the Igarra community in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the state, who visited him in Benin.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, Oshiomhole said he was appreciative of their visit and promised that the perpetrators of the crime would be prosecuted in line with established laws.
He said: “It is not often we get this type of powerful delegation in Government House. And we are happy that you are appreciative of government efforts at creating the enabling environment for investment through our heavy investment in security.

“No matter how much money government spends to build infrastructure, without assured security of the environment, no investor will come.
“It is, therefore, sad that while government is creating a secured environment, some miscreants are taking the laws into their hands by freely using guns and dangerous weapons to kill other people.
“Government will certainly not fold its hands and allow law breakers take charge of the state.”
